Biography
Peter Flanders is an Edmonton-based photographer whose work explores the relationship between the natural landscape and the spaces people build within it.
After moving from the United Kingdom to Alberta with his family in 2008, Peter found inspiration in the scale and variety of his new surroundings. The Rocky Mountains and the cities he encountered throughout the province changed how he looked through his camera, developing an interest in belonging, scale and time.
Early morning is central to his practice. Working around dawn, he seeks the quiet clarity of first light as it reaches mountain peaks, waterways and city buildings. His subjects also include passing trains, weathered vehicles and roads through the mountains, reflecting his interest in movement and the passage of time.
